Where we use AI

We use software to help produce this network. We tell you where, and where we do not.

What the tools do

AI helps us format data, draft language, and scan public records faster than a person could. It does not decide what is true. Every number is verified against a named, human-checked source before it is published. Every editorial judgment, what to publish, what to hold, what a figure means, is made by a person who answers for it.

What this means in practice

A machine may help write a sentence. A person decides whether the sentence is honest. If we ever publish something a model generated without a human standing behind it, we will say so on the page. We have not, and we do not intend to.

The tools are ours to use. The responsibility is not theirs to carry.
