Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it in the open.
Every correction below notes the article affected, the date the fix was made, and what changed. Substantive corrections are also flagged at the top of the affected article. If you believe something we published is inaccurate, write to the newsroom and we will investigate.
An earlier version stated the average deposit as one month of wages. The figure is closer to three weeks based on our updated field sample. The chart and paragraph three have been corrected.
We misstated the remittance corridor volume for Tamil Nadu to Bihar. The corrected figure reflects RBI data for FY24, not FY23.
A quote was attributed to the wrong operations lead. The attribution has been corrected and the individual notified.
